I am obsessed with Dutch doors. I love the option to open 1/2 a door from the kitchen and back patio. Dutch doors were popular in the northeast when the Dutch immigrated from the Netherlands (Holland). Their original purpose was to keep farm animals out and keep young children inside. Still relevant today. Stay relevant people. I love this photo of this dog.
Sidenote: What the heck is on the roof. Looks like an HOA violation in my neighborhood!
In Colorado,we don’t get the humidity (or bugs) so Dutch doors would work here. We have a glass back door leading to the backyard and I think a Dutch door would be so practical. We could listen to the water fountain off the back patio and keep the dogs inside when there are wildlife sightings (or howling).
I have visions of this little Berner popping her head through my Dutch door (versus the fence):
I love the shutter on this door. Not likely in my house since we just removed 90% of the shutters to let the light into the house. But, I love the door and the hardware on the door. Love!
Here’s another Dutch door I am crushing on..it’s similar to all of them because…. well they are split in half with the upper part of the door open.
Here’s the door from my kitchen onto my backyard. I prop the glass door (gated) security door so the dogs can run inside and outside. A Dutch door would eliminate the full door open to the critters and general public.
future Dutch Door
So excited for a Dutch door! Has anyone purchased a Dutch door? Please share details in comments.
