I am so excited to share how an updated farmhouse chalkboard frame changed the entire look of one of my first DIY framed chalkboard. Here’s a peek:
I had a bench underneath the framed chalkboard and it was just too chunky for the space. It looked pretty at Christmas, but the rest of the year it became a dumping ground for mail, bags, and shoes. And, the white looked too fancy.

Over the past year I ordered a few signs with the birch trim and dark stain. Like this “our nest” sign that is a favorite of mine. This little sign put the farmhouse chalkboard frame update in motion.

My style has evolved over the year but I think I landed somewhere between farmhouse and industrial. I can’t go too farmhouse and I don’t want my house to be filled entirely with steel pipe accessories.
1×2 finished birch trim and stain. I used my go to favorite Minwax stain; Jacobean. I bought mine at Home Depot.

I love chalkboards. My friends give me a hard time and like to count the number of chalkboards in my house.
A girl can never have enough chalkboards or ice cubes (love Sonic’s bag of ice).
