I may have heard snow in our forecast over the weekend. I think he said in the higher mountain elevations. Which means we have to press onward with our bathroom demo.
With our middle child off to college, we wasted no time finding a distraction. Within ten hours of returning from to Denver, we took a sledgehammer to our daughter’s bathroom/guest bath. Judging from this photo of the bathroom demo, I think we had some pent-up or unresolved emotions from the college drop off the day before.
Here was the same shot just days before we left for the college drop off.
FUNCTION OVER FASHION
Now I know why tile installers where jeans. I had on a pair of running shorts and long sleeve t-shirt when I removed the tile in the shower/tub demo. An hour later I walk out to take a break and my knees and shins were bloodied and bruised from the shards of tile.
With all the adrenaline of the sledgehammer I never felt the cuts and at first thought, my knees were sweating.
Here’s what you want to wear ladies (and guys).
- jeans and long -sleeve t-shirt (the older the better)
- goggles & gloves
- shoes (my old running shoes) no flip flops.
- baseball cap because stuff is going to fly
We , My husband, finished installing the waterproof backer board. He used the WEDI system we found at a tile store. Since I did the bulk of the tile demo he took the lead on the minor details like plumbing and waterproof barriers. wink
We found tile for the bathroom floor, the shower floor, and an accent tile. And, we are still married. Next steps are to pick out a vanity. I have a few in mind and will share in a bit! Stay tuned!
