I can already feel my denim tightening up in my thighs… and it’s not even Thanksgiving. With back to back to back trips this fall my workouts have been either short or absent. But with a few easy snack ideas, it’s a little easier to keep fueled during the holidays and ease the grip my jeans have on my waistline.
Easy Snack Ideas During the Holidays
One of my favorite snacks is a handful (1/4 cup-ish) of salted mixed nuts.
You know the time between lunch and dinner when the tummy starts rumbling. Or, it’s 8:30 pm and you are pushing thru the final season of Scandal (is anyone still watching this season)? And, you want something to snack on without the calories and sugar.
Here’s my favorite snack at the end of the day. I like to pop it myself and I love the brand of popcorn at Costco (the tall red bag). It’s the brand where you can eat 18 cups for 140 calories or something like that? Anyone know the brand?
Either way, popcorn is a great go-to snack option. But, if you want to add a little something to your popcorn try adding a few nuts. I discovered if I add a few walnuts it’ addsa little more crunch and protein.
Another fun snack is baked garbanzo beans. Just add a little olive oil and kosher salt to a can of drained garbanzo beans. Bake at 350 until lightly brown and crunchy. Yum! Now, if I can just get my kids to try this beans!
Don’t forget the veggies this time of year. Yes, every party has the required veggie platter, but I like the simplicity of mini peppers.
Want a little bit more with those mini peppers? Make a salad with the veggies in the fridge.I add olives, grapes.. whatever is still chillin’ in the fridge! It’s not fancy, but it fills me up until dinner.
Oh and if you are looking for a non-alcoholic, calorie-free drink try this one.
These are a few snack ideas to fuel you during the holidays! What’s your go-to snack this time of year? And, does anyone know the red bag of popcorn from Costco I was talking about earlier?
