Today I am sharing my new love for ferns. I do not have a great record with live plants. But, earlier this season I literally walked into a daily deal of ferns at the Home Depot. I grabbed two of these plants and picked up two more before I left the store. It was love at first fern.
I was ready to transition from artificial to real plants and ferns sounded like a safe bet. And, with the daily deal it was a low investment. Here are my ferns acclimating to our home.
I don’t have a track record with ferns and I am not sure how these leafy plants do in the Colorado climate. In Colorado a fern could die within hours if left on a west facing porch; trust me on this one.
The one great thing about humidity is ferns thrive in that climate. I love Ann’s front porch below from at On Sutton Place. Not wanting to kill my new plants I decided to keep them in a climate controlled home.
This fern was placed in my dining room and it has flourished on this north facing wall with early morning sun. I love this fern. It’s the first thing I see when I come down the stairs in the morning.
Moving into the kitchen I wanted to add a fern to soften the windows that flank two walls. I added a fern onto one of my favorite bar stools tucked into a quiet corner where the 5th chair is located.
Do you have a favorite indoor plant? Sometimes all it takes is a plant to bring a little life and personality into a space!
