Thanksgiving is less than a week away which means Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is almost here. I can not wait for this series to return in 4 90 minute episodes all available on Netflix. It is the perfect weekend binge fest with pie.. and coffee, of course). Gilmore Girls redefined what a mother daughter relationship could look like. My daughter and I binge watched (sorry couldn’t think of a rapid fire adjective other than binge) this series during the summer before she began high school. She just graduated from college. How did this happen? How does Lorelai look younger than me? Oh yeah…
The image above makes me so happy. I want to move to the Northeast with my immediate family and sister and her husband and two dogs. And, yes I know Gilmore Girls was likely filmed on a lot outside of LA. But I can dream about what it would be like to spend an entire year in this tiny town (with my daughter). This would be her nightmare, but it’s a dream.
The image above brings visions of Bedford Falls from It’s a Wonderful Life. Even my children know this reference because I made them watch it with me a few years ago to believe we all have a Clarence looking out for us.
I have to give a shout out to the supporting character in the Gilmore Girls series. This character was in every episode, but wasn’t a member of the Screen Actors Guild… COFFEE. In this series, coffee was a form of therapy; creating a safe, warm place for conversation and enlightenment. And, coffee is much cheaper than therapy. I bet coffee sales go up next week. Do you have plans to watch it?
You can read this fun article I found on Yahoo about the upcoming Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
