Hi everyone! Well, it’s that time of year when we turn our thoughts to projects BEFORE the holidays.
The project that sabotages budgets in minutes… the dreaded, most inconvenient project: the master bathroom remodel. My husband is not on board yet. He mentions factors like the inconvenience and cash flow. But, with recent home sales in our neighborhood, all with updated kitchens and bathrooms, he has a little data to support my master bath remodel plans.
From where I stand it’s a done deal. To seal the pending master bath remodel I found some inspiration to help my husband see my vision. Here’s the current state of our bathroom. It’s not bad and there are bathrooms that are much, much, much more dated.
The bathroom looks better than last year when it looked like this. This is a less frightening photo below. Glass block!
It’s a huge space; more than we need. And, that hot tub size bathtub turned into a giant laundry basket when our Berner puppy ate everything that was not locked down.
Meanwhile, I have turned my attention on ways to remove the hot tub size bathtub from a second story window.

We repainted the bathroom last fall and it did a lot for my mood. Just click on that pic referenced above. It was a depressing way to start the day. And, then a fresh coat of ceiling paint and walls these paint colors bought me some time. Until caulk gate.
I think the turning point for me was when it was time to caulk the shower and I decided it would be easier to just gut the bathroom. Logical, I know. My husband likes to jokingly add, “Welcome to my nightmare.”
if caulk could talk
This is the best view in the bathroom. Too bad it’s where the toilet and door are located.
As you can see we started to do a simple renovation after the paint and update the lighting above the sinks. Our light fixtures looked like this for a few weeks until we found new light fixtures from Lamps Plus. Seriously… weeks. We placed the three existing light fixtures in our annual garage sale and marked “free.” They were snagged in minutes!
We found these lights at Lamp’s Plus. With thoughts of a bathroom remodel running through my head, I played it safe with these light fixtures. The finish keeps them flexible for the future remodel.
When I saw these photos of a bathroom BHG.com I knew I had found the inspiration to provide direction on our remodel. And, I knew these well-lit bathroom photos and sparkly counters and floors would get my husband on board. He just needs a photo. I’ve got the photos.
Ahhhh…. look at this wall with the sink… my bathroom image above is just like this one. It’s like it was destiny for me to find these bathroom images.
It is all I can do to not start breaking up the tile in our master bathroom. I see the light… look at that window… it’s meant to be above my hot tub size bath tub. Oh… and the built ins… shut up.. this is my future bathroom.
Now I just need to find the sledgehammer and start on those tiled counter tops!
