Do you ever get so excited about a dozen projects and then not start any of them? Not one. Do you ever get nothing done? August is a month where I am long on lists and notes and short on the execution. It’s one big loop of ideas and inactions.
nothing
The other day I ran into Home Depot with a LIST. A list full of dimensions, brands and paint colors in my head. And, I became instantly overwhelmed by the decisions. It didn’t help that it was a hot and muggy day in Denver (we don’t get many muggy days).
Do you ever…
I have 20 drafts of posts started and not one post ready to go. It seems every post needs a photo or the words just don’t come together on the page.
Or, usually what happens is I have every intention of starting a project. But then that new, pending project needs some pre-project to get started on the original project. It’s like a hamster wheel of projects in my head.
Does this sound familiar to any of you? Someone say yes!
August
I think August is the month of transitions.. kind of like January. You know in January I have new goals and resolutions, but it takes me until the end of January to settle into the new year.
August feels similar to me. Nothing gets done. Zero.
That is until I get into a rhythm or in my case a new routine; a new routine in our family.
My son, our son, the brother to a sister and younger brother, leaves for college in eight days.
He is ready to start his new chapter. I think my disordered mind and lack of a routine is my way of preparing for my next chapter.
Yes, there will be tears and fears and sleepless nights. AND, there will be new opportunities and projects for me. And, you know they have at Target in August. My sister would yell candy corn!
They have new calendars in August.. like the ones in January, but these calendars begin with the school calendar. I think it is a sign that I will be okay in the days and months ahead. He is ready and I will be too!

I’m having one of those days today!! Enjoy your time with your son!!
Yes I’m like that quite often. I’ve been making a really concerted effort here lately to do better and it’s working.
You have a very good excuse though! You are going through a major life transition so give yourself a little grace and just enjoy those last few days. 🙂
Thanks Stacey! I needed that!
