How many of you have a college or college-bound student? We sent our second child to school last fall. The goodbye never gets easier, but we learned that a scheduled DIY and monthly care packages were great ways to pass the days until Parent’s Weekend and Thanksgiving break. And a college care package party is a fun, therapeutic idea for the mamas. The first college care package party I attended was hosted by a mom of one of my daughter’s friends.
We had a little wine and a few nibbles and a lot of laughs!
Each mother/daughter pair purchased inexpensive items for the number of girls who attended the college care package party. Our imagination was confined to the size of the USPS Large Priority Box.
It was a ton of fun to get together on a Sunday evening to pack our boxes. Each mom brought fun, inexpensive items. Items included tissues, Cracker Jack’s, gum, snack sized pretzels etc.
We included notes of good wishes to all the girls.
Here’s what our care packages looked like when we finished. This was my daughter’s box. We were each responsible for mailing it to our child… I mean young adult.
Here’s the one I made for my son for an Easter care package. I tucked a funny Irish blessing into this box too!
This college care package party was so fun for us moms and it was a chance to share feelings, worries, laughter and to look forward.
And, that’s what college is all about; looking forward!
