If I was my son’s contractor he would have fired me and with held the final payment! His bedroom makeover has been a work in progress since he was ten (he is now thirteen- but I tell everyone he is eight so I can subtract 5 years off my age)! After getting his bed situated and the walls painted he had this huge gap above his bed. I was getting frustrated. I searched Pinterest, but nothing was in my scope of skill sets. And, then I found inspiration at Marshalls. I had 10 minutes to spare before picking up my son from practice and ran into Marshalls (doesn’t everyone?). I found a package of foam squares used in workout spaces. I initially walked right past them and then took a step backwards.
A few hours later, I was painting away. The “assembly” was within my technical expertise (ie: no tools)!
I added vinyl to customize it to my son’s interests!
Cost for this DIY headboard: $12.99

Now that’s a cool idea for a headboard! We used to have those foams tiles on the playroom floor in our last house when our kids were smaller. I’m wishing now I would have kept them! Great idea.

This is a smart choice. I can’t count the number of times I’ve knocked my head on our headboard playing with my daughter. Foam puzzle squared would have saved the day for me. =D
