air return grates makeover
Today I am sharing my air return grates makeover with a can of spray paint. This air return grates makeover was an easy project with a subtle impact to a room. When I recently sold and donated some outdated furniture I was left with a few empty rooms. That’s when I noticed the bland, gray air return grates on the hardwood floors. I had seen the idea on Pinterest months before but didn’t give it much thought until I had these open rooms. What stood out were the air return grates on the floors in the rooms. This easy makeover was from a can of spray paint. The air return grates makeover with a can of spray paint gave the floors a finished appearance. I love the look. Here is one of the dozens of the original air return grates before the spray paint makeover. Here is the transformed air return grate after a few layers of a primer/black spray paint finish. I LOVE this makeover! Even {first} husband noticed the air return grates which rarely happens. I joke with friends I could paint the front door pink and he would not notice unless his phone was duct taped to the front door! This is an inexpensive idea with a big impact to a room. I finished one to two rooms at a time because I didn’t want to have an exposed air grate where someone’s foot or paw might land.

I had been wondering if this could be done. My heating grates stand out like sore thumbs. I’m going to have to try this.
