I am sharing two healthy choices you can make today. One of my resolutions was to make simple healthy choices that would not send my body into shock. These healthy choices are attainable and measurable. I like numbers. I don’t like to add numbers but I like to count and measure my activities (well maybe not my Pinterest activity). The first healthy choice I make everyday is to drink water. I visualize my cells and organs getting dehydrated or thirsty and this silly image helps me grab my re-usable water bottle. I notice when I am getting tired I am usually dehydrated or if I am really thirsty I choose water over caffeinated beverages. I cringe looking back at how I used to grab a diet soda to quench my thirst.
The second healthy choice I make each day is to sneak/include fruits and/or vegetables into my food. I add cucumbers or apple slices to my sandwich. I add flax seed to sauces and pasta. I grab fruit on my way to carpool. I used to grab a granola bar, but reading the list of ingredients on the wrapper, I realized these bars were giving me everything but energy. If you know of a great, low ingredient energy bar please leave it in the comments. I displayed my apples on my IKEA dish dryer so my kids would know they were clean!
This last choice is one we don’t talk about it: fiber! My doctor told me about adding 1-2 tablespoons of ground flax seed is the best source of fiber. He told me I would have to eat a bag of spinach leaves to get 1/2 of the fiber in a tablespoon of flax seed. I added it to my daily breakfast. I add ground flax seed to pasta sauces and my family has no idea. Flaxseed is loaded with heart healthy benefits and it keeps things running smoothly. Let me know what healthy choices work best for you in the comments!

These are all great choices! I drink water all day but I like your reminder to hydrate the organs. I’ll have to remember that! I used flaxseed in vegan baking but I haven’t added it to regular recipes. Must try that! Also, have you seen the That’s It bars? They are just fruit. I’m not sure you’d call them energy bars or not but they only contain fruit and they say how much on each of the wrappers. Good to keep in the car or your purse.
