pumpkins & paint
Remember when pumpkins were orange? My son will look back and think orange pumpkins were because of the Denver Broncos. Last year I painted a few pumpkins white and I loved the look. At the time, I thought I was stepping out of my definition of the classic pumpkin.
This season I decided to take my pumpkin décor up a notch with blue pumpkins. I didn’t want to practice on large pumpkins in case the project was an epic fail. I grabbed a few dollar pumpkins at Target. I had plenty of blue paint samples from last year when I was figuring out an accent color for our kitchen island.
I loved the look immediately. You know when you just know you are going to love the finished look of a project. Well I fell in love with the shades of blue pumpkins. It was a great look and it was nice to clear out paint samples.
I like it… the shades of blue are a more subtle look in the kitchen and the main level spaces where orange is just a little too glaring with our new paint colors.
I’m not going crazy with shades of colors. I am not going for a box of Crayola color pumpkins, but I like the subtle shades of blue next to white (real and fake) pumpkins.
I love the look and it passed the college grad daughter living with us test. She approved. Oh and I found my pumpkins at Target in the dollar section and Michaels.
