Here’s a post I started two years ago. I was saving the post for when I had the “aha” item to wash in the dishwasher. Well, if I got “the one” idea to wash in the dishwasher, that has yet to be shared, it got away from me.
Please share the items you wash in the dishwasher in the comments or scroll to end for more ways to get featured.
And, not every object comes with a photo… like baseball caps. There is no photo of the baseball caps and the reason is I usually throw them in the washing machine and pray the rims stay in position. But, my boys believe I run the dishwasher with maybe four baseballs caps. That’ just not going to happen- we live in Colorado we recycle water! My boys can be particular about their baseball caps, but not too particular where I toss the laundry responsibilities over to them… yet. But, I started to work on their laundry skills last summer. One nailed the lesson; the other one can not tell the difference between the washer and the dryer.
I like to save one row on the upper rack for the dishwands, scrub brushes and other miscellaneous kitchen items. On Fridays, I like to toss the lunch boxes into the dishwasher. The dishwasher jets get into the crevices of the lunch bags and they are almost totally dry when the wash cycle is complete. I like to think it is disinfecting the countless germs of my kids’ week at school, lockers and locker room.
My newest use of the dishwasher is to clean the dog related toys, dishes and Kongs. I like to wash them all at once and I tend to prewash the items with a little bleach. I don’t share the dishes with the dog dishware… even though the dog bowls likely have fewer germs than the lunchboxes.
