My son and I took a mother-son trip to NYC last fall. It was three days packed with heart filled memories, experiences and a three-day mother-son foodie fest. We had amazing weather which made it all the more fun to hit the streets and partake in a foodie fest frenzy. One of the places on his list to visit was Cookie Do (long “O”); a raw cookie dough shop.
Wait, aren’t we suppose to avoid raw cookie dough? Do the foodie police know about this place?
And, then it brought back memories of middle school. My girlfriends and I would share 1/2 a tube of the chilled, plastic wrap cookie dough log. We were a bunch of troublemakers back then.
We went to the location close to NYU. I went old school with a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough and my son got a cookie dough sandwich. We grabbed a few baked chocolate chip cookies for the road! This is the only photo of my son; our selfies were epic fails. #mothersontrip #selfiefails
Truth? The raw chocolate chip cookie dough tasted a lot like the Pillsbury chocolate chip cookie dough log.
Like very similar. But, the shop and experience were fun and the line moved quickly. And, the location was to grab a scoop and walk around.
We finished our second visit to Central Park with dinner at The Black Tap. Amazing burgers, music and the shakes were well worth the month of calories! The line was out the door and the wait was close to an hour, but the warm weather and the family conversation behind us made the wait more entertaining.
My son found this spot and it was the perfect way to end a mother-son trip to NYC. We snapped this photo to share with husband/dad when we saw the Colorado beers. My husband thought it was funny the Coors was considered a craft beer. I can’t say enough about The Black Tap. We want one in Colorado!
Please share your favorite NYC stops because I think we may take another trip next fall as he heads into his senior year of high school. Sniff.
