Do you like creepy Halloween? Or do you prefer pumpkins and corn stalks? My preference is for pumpkins and friendly ghosts. I found the perfect balance between cute and creepy with these funny tombstones you can make for the front yard.
I used fluorescent outdoor craft paint and an alphabet stencil set I found at Michael’s. These funny tombstones have become a family tradition at our house. We like to incorporate something that was trending during the year. One year I painted the phrase, “Um.. not winning” in a shout out to Charlie Sheen’s catch phrase.
These funny tombstones were made from sheets of plywood I purchased at HD. In previous years, I purchased Styrofoam headstones, but with windy afternoons in Colorado I got tired of tracking them down. The plywood was heavy enough to stay upright and in the off season I can store them flat or against a wall in the garage. If you want to make the tombstones smaller there are other options with lighter MDF boards.
It’s a fun tradition for my family. The neighbors get a kick out of these and it’s fun to see them reading them as they drive down the street.
