Hi Everyone! It’s hard to believe a year ago the entire city of Denver was covered in orange and blue. Who knew we were onto a decor trend! Orange and blue are one of the decor trends in the new year. Here are a few of my favorite decor trends for the new year. All of these trends were mentioned from one of my favorite sites for decor inspiration.
orange & blue |
I was ahead of the orange and blue trend when I purchased these curtains a few years ago. However I learned not all trends work in all homes. The geometric pattern was a bit too much for a suburban basement. And, it clashed with our overstuffed leather furniture. I still have the curtains and I am waiting for the perfect place to use them. Taking suggestions!
My kids could not get past the navy, orange and pink color combination. Apparently, the color combination messed with their epic ping pong battles. I am not making this up; I think one of my boys said it hurt their eyes! #suburbanprobs
The curtains were eventually replaced with grey. However, I still have these curtains because I LOVE the pattern and color combinations. Please share any suggestion on how to recycle/upcycle these curtains.
Moving along, here is a design trend for those updated chandeliers. BHG shared an easy way to update those tired chandeliers. What do you think of this painted navy chandelier? Does anyone paint their chandelier for the seasons? I think I could paint a chandelier neon orange and no one in my family would notice.
I refer to it as male paint color blindness.
Last year we had our ceilings and walls painted to lighten up the house. I love the shades of blue in the photo below. I don’t have an “eye” for mixing patterns so I have a harder time with the chair’s blue pattern and the contrasting patterns in the rug and ottoman. Anyone else get anxious from the multiple patterns? It sets off something in my brain. Is it just me?
Brass & Gold Finishes
How many of us just finished updating our hardware? Well BHG announced, with this photo, brass and gold finishes are back. Pair them with orange and you will be a trend setter in 2017. I don’t know if I am more upset the gold finishes are back OR if I actually like the gold/brass finished in this photo.
On a side note the Turkish towels in this bathroom are popping up everywhere.
For some reason the mix of patterns in this orange theme family room doesn’t bother me like the geometric blue patterns in the previous family room photo.
I like the mix of orange and navy in the pillow and fabrics. In this space the navy pillows tone down the orange. Which room do you prefer? This one or the navy family room above?
Finally, I am having flashbacks when I saw the return of this decor trend from the 1970’s and 1980’s. What do you think of when you hear the word macrame?
