I love fresh garland. I love fresh garland the way Oprah loves bread. Seriously, I start to pound the pavement days after Halloween in search of garland. But, this year I wanted to amp up the garland swags and find a way to make garland sparkle.
I found a way to make garland sparkle with another favorite object this time of years; bells. I love the jingle jangle of bells. I collect and buy bells during the year. Right now, I am looking for an oversized dinner bell to hang by the back door off the kitchen. Of course, the only who might come running has four legs, and a tail; our Bernese Mountain dog, Chloe.
I had a dozen craft ideas for the jingle bells I bought at Michaels in November. Four weeks later and my bells were taking up space in my kitchen craft cabinet (junk cabinet).
So what happens when garland and jingle bells hook up? There’s a bit more sparkle in the house. Not only does the garland sparkle it also jingles! And, this holiday decor idea took minutes.
With a container full of bells and half an hour, I threaded garland stems through the bells. Look for the thin stems as they make it easier to get the bell attached.
The weight of the jingle bells acts as an anchor which makes the garland stems act as “picks” for centerpieces and wreaths.
I love how the garland stems contrast with the shiny red jingle bells. Love it!
