January puts me in a weird funk. On the one hand it is always the first month of a new year (duh) with new goals and hopes. And, don’t get me started on décor in January. I see beautiful January themes on Pinterest and Bloglovin only to look at my brown walls and brown furniture and see a year’s worth of home projects! This is what our family room looks like this month after the tree is recycled and the furniture is returned to hover around the walls and windows. I never noticed how brown this room was until I took the above photo. I need a winter escape! I have painted most of the rooms on the main level, but at 5’3″ the two story walls are too much! I am very tempted to get started to give the painters’ a little head start! That’s my Type-A personality kicking into gear in the new year!
So until I find the painter and confirm the paint colors I am making the most of winter décor in the other rooms of my house. Like this chalkboard in my recently painted dining room. I added the bench from another room to make it a place for handbags and mail. I love this sign and I purchased the pillow cover last year at Pottery Barn.
I made the wreath last year and used the wood mittens I also found on clearance at Pottery Barn. The cozy wreath details are here.
On the opposite wall in the dining room I put together this winter scape in my recently relocated media cabinet. The lantern is from Décor Steals and the flocked branches I found at Michaels. I love the versatility of the smaller picks (versus the heavy garland strands). Stuff some lights in there and I have a relaxing Winter E-Scape! The walls in here are Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter. It is my new favorite neutral paint color.
I almost got rid of these buckets. I have two and I painted them white and love the height they bring to the window. I mixed in a flocked garland pick with the branches from our Christmas tree. . The Aspen trees outside our window are covered in white lights year round in which make for a pretty view in the summer evenings. I love white lights on trees!
Thanks for stopping by to see my Winter E-scapes!
