For me fall signals the transition of dinner from the grill to the crockpot. I am going to share a secret. I pretend to make dinners I didn’t really create. These amazing dinners are created from the contents of a 32 ounce jar. I blame my friend for sharing the soup starters at Williams-Sonoma after listening to me talk about my soup fails. And, she is an amazing cook and doesn’t need to rely on a little help from a jar. I, on the other hand, need all the help I can get in the kitchen.
I had no idea there were meal starters out there for those of us who don’t value spices or herbs (are those the same thing)? I seriously am below the curve on cooking skills. These soup starters in a jar changed my life. Changed it! And, my family thinks I learned how to cook. The truth these meal starters require broth (in a box), diced chicken or maybe a chicken apple sausage from my favorite market. Or, keep it veggie friendly with added beans or vegetables. A sales associate at Williams-Sonoma suggested I add Orzo to bulk it up for my teenage boy appetites.
These soup starters are pricier than other versions at the grocery store. I rationalize the cost that a couple of pizzas sets me back more than the meal and leftovers from this jar! And, I control the added ingredients. These soups and meal starters go on sale during the fall and winter. I tend to stock up and take advantage of free shipping.
These soup starters were such a hit I justified purchasing new crock soup bowls HERE. I love these crock soup bowls.
P.S. I reread this and the post sounded like an advertisement… no incentive to post just in love with these meal starters!
