Hi there- I am soooo excited to show off this project. A few months ago I finished my office makeover project HERE. As you can see I had a large blank wall behind my desk. I was so proud of this makeover because it was all me. So I wanted a DIY project that would be a real statement project. I found something similar from a THIS OLD HO– USE book. from the library. Yes, the library- old school! And, I didn’t want Pinterest to either overwhelm me. No Google-ing or Pinning on this project. Here is the finished chalkboard calendar wall. Scroll below for the details. I found these MDF Chalkboards at HOME DEPOT HERE. . I purchased 3 boards at $9.99 each. I attached the MDF boards to the wall with my nail gun (with compressor- best Mother’s Day gift ever). I caulked the seams of the boards and lightly sanded. I wanted to make the chalkboard magnetic, so this added the additional steps of adding magnetic paint followed by re- painting over it with chalkboard paint. In hindsight, I would have added the magnetic paint to only one section of the calendar. I knew I wanted seven days and space on the side. I got so caught up in the lines that I originally drew the lines across the entire width of the board and had to go back and paint over the lines. Oops! The space on the right is where I should have added the magnetic paint. I used these oil based Sharpie markers and a level to make the lines. I found these at Home Depot near the spray paint. I purchased basic 4″ primed door jam trim at Home Depot and did basic cuts. I wanted a utilitarian look so no mitered corners on this project. So much easier! If making a wall calendar make sure to add an additional row of boxes (days) to accommodate months with 5 weeks or months that start at the end of the week. Trust me! It took me an hour to wrap my head around needing more than 31 boxes! Here is the finished project. I love it! It looks amazing on the wall and in my office and it makes the perfect statement!
