**disclaimer: I repost this every year and email my {first} husband a copy a few days before Valentine’s Day. Just a not so subtle reminder of the “happy wife, happy life” motto I subscribe to on a daily basis! **
My Valentine’s Day was spent in the Atlanta airport, making my way back to Colorado. Before leaving for Knoxville last week to visit my sister, I reminded my {first} husband the one gift I wanted: dinner at home: no chocolates, no reservations. I asked my {first} husband to pre-order and pick up a family size order of baked ziti with sausage and the chopped salad from our fav Italian restaurant: Maggianos. Yum. Simple.
I knew after a day of flying I would love a night home with family and a great dinner. Well my first clue this was maybe not going to happen is when I found the milk still in the milk box from the 2am delivery. This foreshadowed what was to follow. I open the kitchen refrigerator.. no large aluminum tray. He must have put dinner in the garage refrigerator. HE MUST….HAVE. I talked about it all last week. So simple. I open the garage fridge and there is no aluminum tray. Of course, the “take and bake” pizza I bought for him and the kids to eat while I was gone, was still in the refrigerator: looking like it had spent one too many nights wrapped in plastic wrap. So, I decided to take the dogs on a quick trip to the dog park while my {first} husband figured out dinner. I took his car and our 2 dogs- Owen and Tanner. Two dogs, one very muddy dog park and my {first} husband’s car. So, I trudged through the mud, with the dogs. Dogs were sliding in the mud, my socks were soaked from the puddles and the sun was setting.. it was getting chilly. I get a quick text from {first} husband admitting he screwed up, he was picking up dinner and he would order up the ziti for another night. I was still a little cranky (I was missing my sissy and I was in denial it was back to reality of school, homework, lunches, bedtimes, drama… motherhood). And, then I realized that I had two very muddy dogs and driving my {first} husband’s car. So, my {first} husband’s Valentine was the cutest set of paw prints on the interior roof of his car. And, on Tuesday my favorite, forever and always husband brought home baked ziti. Guess what I already put in his mobile calendar for next year: Order Dinner. Love you ~forever and always~
You’re funny!
Belated happy valentines and here’s to hoping he’ll not change his phone next year
Ha! He might!
Your “first” husband sounds like he will last for a long, long time. Great blog here. I will be back. Following from Over Forty.

I hopped over from social parade. I’m now a follower. This dish looks soooo yummy.
Well, on the bright side, you *did* get your baked ziti, even if it was a day late.
And I’m sure next year, he will NOT forget!
Thank you so much for participating in Type A Thursday! I’m now following you back and I hope you’ll join in next week! Yay for Type A’s!
That’s funny – definitely put a smile on my face! Thanks for joining in Type A Thursday and following my blog! I hope we’ll see you again next week!
It’s great to connect with another Coloradan! We’ve been living in Texas for a little over a year now, but I consider myself from Colorado (I’ve spent the most time there of anywhere – my dad was Air Force so that should clue you in on where we lived ;).
And I love you mentioned Type A in your bio. The Type A Housewife and myself just might need to think about adding you as a guest blogger one of these weeks!
I’m a new follower. Sounds like a Valentine’s Day that will make the hall of fame, but maybe not for the right reasons, lol
Hope next year is a better one!
Ours+His+Mine=Nine!
Typical {first} husband. Mine forgets things like that all of the time.

Small world…I live in Knoxville. I am glad your hubby made it right…
Cute post. We know about muddy dogs! My (second) husband took the poochies for a walk last night and the beagle is so low to the ground, his belly came home muddy and wet. First thing he did when he got home, jump on Momma’s lap!
A girl after my own heart-you gave me a great laugh before leaving for work-so happy you finally got that ziti!!lol
