Easy way to add holiday cheer to a guest room with craft tape

In my Pottery Barn dream house the bedrooms are decked out for the holidays. The bedrooms and bathrooms all have holiday bedding and matching bath towels. But in my real house the guest room is my son’s bedroom for 360 days of the year.  But, in my mind, all our bedrooms have Christmas sheets and bedding (and no muddy paw prints). Ahhh… let me just play house in my imaginary Pottery Barn dream house.

On my budget I can’t afford to deck the rooms with new linens, but I can add a little holiday cheer to the nightstands or dressers.  I snagged multiple rolls of Christmas craft tape from Crate & Barrel’s online outlet store last year. I may have gone over board in 2014  with pretty craft tape.

Here’s a lamp by my entryway.  The one accessory all the bedrooms have is a nightstand lamp.  So it seemed like a low risk, low commitment to add some fun holiday tape to a lampshade.  I think our dogs are craftier, with their paw print impressions in dust.

I love the look. It’s easy and temporary and it doesn’t make a mess like my last Christmas craft (messy, but I still love it).

The Santa tape was super cute. So like Buddy the Elf, I wanted to spread Christmas cheer with craft tape. Against the light bulb the tape has a fun glow at night.  I thought this was a subtle way to decorate the guest bedroom.

Not that lamp turned Christmas decor is just adorable! What a great idea! I sure wish I lived within driving distance of a Pottery Barn outlet.
