Pottery Barn Inspired Room Layout

The new year is a great time for a new look.  I am referring to my house and not myself.   This is the furniture that was in our basement until early December.  This is 1/2 the sectional with the end section in our room because it wouldn’t fit in the basement room.

And then I saw this image in the Pottery Barn catalog and I was ready to make a move.. as in moving furniture.

Our my decision to simply flip the leather couch and oversize chair and ottoman with the suede-like fabric (blanking on the name of the fabric covering) sectional in our basement.  So with a free hour on  a Saturday night my {first} husband and I moved the upstairs furniture set to the basement and literally flipped  the sectional pieces to the family room (envision your couch doing a cartwheel up the stairs) .

And, we LOVED IT!  We both LOVED IT!  How often does that happen?

Here is my interpretation of the Pottery Barn sectional layout in our family room:

And, here is my interpretation of my “new” scctional. This view is taken from my kitchen dining area:

I love it! It has lightened up the room so much:

It’s amazing the changes just mixing up the furniture:

At one point our large couch was against the wall. The door in the background leads out onto our front deck. See that project HERE. So we wanted access to the door and I really wanted a sofa table behind the couch. I am obsessed with keeping furniture away from the walls if at all possible.

Here is the sofa table that I snagged from the dining room and put behind the back of the couch section that is in front of deck door and windows:

So, I did have to do a little staging to take these photos. Here is the crap I tossed aside to stage it:

Here’s a view from the back of the room:

It’s amazing how just moving furniture around can change the entire feel of a room! And, it took about an hour!

I love how this room turned out! I know what you mean about re arranging furniture, and how it totally give a room a new feeling. I would love to move my sofa from our living room away from the wall, I do love how PB stages their rooms just right.
