Got Mice?

Two Minute Tuesdays!

Happy Fall Y’all!  With the temperature drops this time of year, some of us get additional house guests sneaking  into our garages and homes!  I’m talking about mice, not mother- in-laws!  Kidding!  I am not a fan of traps and tried the sticky trap which was horrible!  It  left one of my children with a visual of the mouse’s fate,  all but guaranteeing  he will be in therapy because of our mice epidemic in the fall of 2012! But, what  if I could share a solution that minimizes the chances of you having to touch the trap or see the mouse?

Spoiler Alert: Stop Here if  you are not a fan of  mouse traps.

SUPPLIES:

Paper bag with handles, scissors, mouse trap and peanut butter or cheese.

HOW TO:

Cut “doors” into each end of paper bag. Place trap inside (spring loaded with treat). Place along wall where you suspect a mouse has been or will travel pass. Place bag out at night and check in the morning.

Somehow I have been fortunate enough to not have a issue of this ever. I don’t think I would handle it well, I could see me packing up the kids and staying in a hotel while they are “handled”. This is a good idea though, hopefully this year wont be as bad for you!

I’m making a confession here, I’ve NEVER made…I had RATS in my barn and did something similar with 5 gallon buckets. I like the bag idea better, but hopefully I won’t ever have those visitors again. It’s been quite a few years, but I still leave one trap in place. Ugggh!!! The mice are ridiculous as well, so I may still use this one. thanks.

Where were you when I still lived in NJ? 😉 We used to get mice in the basement as soon as the weather started cooling off. Now living in SC AND getting an exterminator quarterly due to the GIANT BUGS and spiders that can sneak in, I almost miss the mice. :( Is that weird?

What about mice who can “unload” the trap without springing it? That’s what we have here. Mice with years of practice and Nobel Prizes in outsmarting traps.

Mice are smarter on the east coast! Colorado mice are finding other treats on the streets!

Updating a Vase with Spray Paint

I am over my love affair with red.  I like a little bit, but at some point I decided every accessory in my TJ MAXX hoarder closet needed to be red.  Love this vase but the red clashes and just doesn’t say spring. The red vase was in need of an intervention so I updated it with [Read more…]
