Hi everyone- Well here is a first at I’m Not a Trophy Wife- I actually baked cookies to look like the donuts and I must say the results are impressive {for my baking talents}. I found the cookie donuts in the cookbook, The Smart Cookie- at least I think that is the title because that is the hashtag I used to remember the title when/if I ever made the cookie donuts! !
I think they turned out great! My kids knew immediately what they were suppose to be which is not always the case when I bake something in the kitchen.
Don’t believe me? Check out this epic FAIL HERE.
Here is my favorite sugar cookie recipe! The recipe calls for less butter and sugar than sugar cookie recipes I have used in the past. I tend to make my cookies a little thicker to give them a fighting chance of transferring from the cookie sheet to the cooking rack!
- 2 CUPS FLOUR
- ½ TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
- DASH OF SALT (OPTIONAL)
- 1 STICK UNSALTED BUTTER, SOFTENED
- ¾ CUP SUGAR
- 1 EGG
- 2 TABLESPOONS MILK
- 1 TEASPOON VANILLA
- MIX THE BUTTER AND SUGAR UNTIL SMOOTH, ADD EGG, MILK AND VANILLA.
- ADD DRY INGREDIENTS
- PLACE DOUGH IN COVERED CONTAINER OR WRAP WITH SARAN WRAP.
- REFRIGERATE FOR 3-4 HOURS OR OVERNIGHT.
- HEAT OVEN TO 350
- PLACE CUT OUT COOKIE DOUGH ON UNGREASED BAKING SHEET
- BAKE FOR 10-12 MINUTES (BAKING TIME VARIES SO USE A TIMER)
Love these! Easiest thing to decorate ever!

What a neat idea. I never would have thought to make them look like donuts.

Thanks Julie! It was too easy! I saw the idea in a cookie book and thought, “This I could do!”

I bake GREAT cookies but I totally stay away from rolled cookies. These look adorable.
